This article explores the transformation of documents into documentary memory. It emphasizes the document's role as a unique intellectual product of human activity and the permanence of documentary historical memory. Identifying and analyzing each life cycle of a document allows us to discover new insights into its understanding, and the analysis of the document's life cycle is carried out in a humanitarian, rather than a technical, context. The inherent property of any document of remembering the past ultimately ensures the formation of documentary memory in the human noosphere. The accessibility of archival documents to researchers, and consequently, documentary memory, is ensured by legislation and established practice, as well as by processes for reconstructing archival documents/collections, even those that left no "handwritten or printed trace" through subsequent replenishment. An effective scientific reference system in archives and manuscript departments of museums and libraries also allows for greater access to documents for researchers. It is concluded that a document must be viewed not only as a purposeful human activity, but also as an objective manifestation of human spiritual history and culture, its material reflection, a trace of its essence throughout the entire unified, planetary space-time continuum.
