As the United Nations marks its eightieth anniversary, this article revisits the historical origins and evolution of the UN as the world’s only universal platform for dialogue, norm-setting, and collective action. It highlights Kazakhstan’s multilateral profile: from early leadership in nuclear disarmament and the Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone to service on the UN Security Council, and new institutional innovations, including a Host Country Agreement to establish a UN Regional center dedicated to supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation in Central Asia and Afghanistan. The article connects these experiences to current renewal efforts under the Pact for the Future and emphasizes the continuing adaptability of the Organization in a rapidly changing world.
