Author Guidelines
Article Length
The editorial board of Zhana Arkhiv accepts previously unpublished articles on the journal’s scientific themes (listed on the website). Articles must be submitted in electronic format (.doc, .docx, .rtf).
The length of the article (excluding title, author information, abstract, keywords, and references) should be no less than 2,500 words and no more than 7,000 words.
If the article exceeds the word limit and the author considers it necessary to retain the content, the final decision on publication is made by the editorial board.
Text Format
Font: Times New Roman; size: 14 pt (for abstracts, keywords, references – 14 pt; for table text – 12 pt); text alignment: justified; line spacing: single; paragraph indent: 1 cm; margins: 2 cm on all sides.
The text must be cleared of all duplicate spaces and unnecessary line breaks (this can be done automatically using the “find and replace” function).
Figures, tables, charts, diagrams, etc., must be embedded directly in the text with appropriate numbering and titles (e.g., Fig. 1. Title of the figure). The total number of visual elements should not exceed 20% of the article volume (in some cases up to 30%).
If the article includes illustrations, each one must be inserted in the text and also provided as a separate file in JPEG or TIFF format, resolution 300 dpi.
Article Structure
The structure of the article should follow the IMRaD format:
Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References.
These section titles should be italicized in the text.
For reviews, critiques, personal profiles, and documentary publications, a deviation from this structure is allowed.
References
In-text citations must be enclosed in parentheses and include: author’s surname (without initials, unless needed to distinguish between authors with the same name) or a shortened title (for works without an author) and the year of publication. Page, figure, or table references are separated by a colon.
If there are multiple authors, only the first author is listed.
Example: (Alpysbaeva 2020: 15)
If there are multiple works by the same author in the same year, distinguish them using letters:
Example: (Alpysbaeva 2001a: 15), (Alpysbaeva 2001b: 22)
ATTENTION!
Do not place a comma between the author's surname and the year. All dashes and slashes should be removed from the reference list.
