Author Guidelines

General requirements

1. The journal publishes only original articles not previously published elsewhere.
2. A certificate of a text originality check must be attached; originality must be at least 75%.
3. All research articles undergo mandatory blind peer review.
4. Research articles are published free of charge.
5. Manuscripts must not contain information classified as state, official or commercial secrets.
6. Articles are published in Kazakh, Russian or English.
7. The Editorial Board may decline manuscripts that are outside the journal's scope, poorly written or not formatted according to the requirements.
8. Research articles by authors affiliated with the publisher make up no more than 70% of the papers in each issue.

Submission. Manuscripts are submitted through the author's account on the journal website («Submit an article»). Before the platform was launched, manuscripts were accepted at journal.aprk@gmail.com.

Length. Files in .doc, .docx or .rtf format. Length (excluding title, author information, abstract, keywords and references) from 2,500 to 7,000 words. If a longer text cannot be shortened, the Editorial Board decides on publication.

Text format. Times New Roman, 14 pt (abstract, keywords and references 14 pt, tables 12 pt), justified, single spacing, 1 cm paragraph indent, 2 cm margins. Remove repeated spaces and extra line breaks. Figures, tables, graphs and diagrams are placed in the text with a number and caption (e.g. «Fig. 1. Title») and take up no more than 20% of the article (30% in some cases). Each illustration is also provided as a separate JPEG or TIFF file at 300 dpi.

Structure. Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Notes, References; section headings in italics. Reviews, book reviews, biographical and documentary publications may follow a different structure.

Article components:

1. IRSTI code (UDC in exceptional cases), first line, left-aligned.
2. Title (7-12 words) in Kazakh, Russian and English, bold, lowercase, centred.
3. Author(s): full name in italics; below: full name of the institution, country and city, position, academic degree and title (if any), e-mail and ORCID. All information in three languages.
4. Abstract of 130-300 words in Kazakh, Russian and English (12 pt). Reviews, biographical and documentary publications may have no abstract.
5. Keywords in three languages (12 pt): up to 12, separated by semicolons, no full stop at the end, in order of importance.
6. Text: italics only for emphasis, no bold or underlining.
7. Archival sources: a separate numbered list «Notes» before the references (12 pt): document title (in the original language), archive name (in full at first mention), fond, inventory, file and sheet numbers. Example: Memoirs of A. Tolebayev. Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (APRK). F. 122-N. Op. 1. D. 123. L. 12.
8. In-text citations in round brackets: author's surname and year, page after a colon, e.g. (Alpysbaeva 2020: 15); several works by the same author in one year are marked with letters: (Alpysbaeva 2001a: 15). No comma between surname and year.
9. References in alphabetical order (12 pt), only works cited in the text; English-language publications first, then Kazakh and Russian; formatted according to GOST 7.1-2003.
10. Romanised reference list in the same order: author(s), year, transliterated title (in italics), source title (transliterated or English), publication details in English, ending with (in Kazakh) or (in Russian). Transliteration: translit.ru (MVD option), qazlat.kz for Kazakh.
11. Author information: full name, position, academic degree and title, full name of the institution, address, postcode, contacts, e-mail.
