Abstract

This article examines complex legal issues related to defining conditions for access to archival documents in the Russian Federation containing information on an individual’s personal and family privacy, private life, and data that may pose a threat to their security. Unresolved issues in Russian legislation are noted, particularly regarding the definition of confidentiality periods for medical records and adoption information. The article also discusses the development of Methodological Recommendations by VNIIDAD under the commission of Rosarkhiv, which will consolidate existing regulatory requirements for access to archival documents and provide guidance on their practical application.
