Abstract

In recent years, the field of archives has undergone significant changes, driven by the need for data digitization, automation and improved access to materials of cultural heritage. In response to modern challenges and the need to implement innovations in archival science, the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with Satbayev University, organized the hackathon “Archive Hack: Smart Archive”. This event brought together talented developers, students, and schoolchildren to create innovative solutions aimed at improving the processes of digitization, cataloging, and visualization of archival data. This article examines the experience of organizing the hackathon, its stages, results, challenges, and prospects for the future development of such events. It will be of interest to archivists, researchers in the fields of digitization and cultural heritage, developers, and professionals interested in new methods of managing and preserving archival data.
