Current issues of Modern Archival Terminology in Kazakhstan

Abstract

The article addresses current issues related to the use and interpretation of terms and definitions in domestic archival studies. According to the author, the issues of modern archival terminology in Kazakhstan have been and remain unresolved. This is partly due to the fact that the process of improving the regulatory legal framework in the field of documentation science and archival affairs in Kazakhstan is ongoing, and as a result, clarifications are being made regarding the semantic load of several terms. At the same time, this is also a matter of the linguistic adaptation of several international terms and the correctness of their translation. The author concludes that the task of methodologists should be the preparation of modern archival dictionaries and the unification of the archival terminology system used. Possible solutions to this are proposed by the author in this publication.
