From the experience of the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan with electronic photo documents

The article discusses the theory and practice of working with electronic photo documents at the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The issues of selection for permanent storage, description, and registration of these documents are highlighted. The following questions are addressed: problems in working with electronic photo documents as new types of sources for modern history, general and specific criteria for selecting electronic photo documents for permanent storage, issues related to annotating electronic photo documents, and their registration. The research materials include the collection of photographs from the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, starting from 2003. The work outlines the problems encountered by the author in practical work related to the compilation and description of electronic photo documents. A number of questions are raised that require the development of unified methodological approaches for working with electronic photo documents. In the archival practice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, work with electronic photo documents is a relatively new direction, and its methodology is still being formed, so it is necessary to regulate all aspects of working with this category of documents.
