Abstract

The problem of long-term storage of electronic and digital documents (records) and data is considered through the prism of the history of computer technology, the evolution of information carriers and the development of information technology. The article analyzes the experience of storing and securing electronic and digital documents and data in foreign archives, focuses on changing the composition of transferred objects, techniques to compensate for unsaved elements, practical issues of migration and conversion of information, as well as experience in ensuring the continuity of software and file formats. The author offers a brief description of the current stage of development of electronic document and data archives, identifies the problems and tasks without which further development of these archives is difficult; based on the analysis of the experience and current day of electronic document and data archives, as well as the study of government digital transformation strategies adopted in different countries, the prospects for the development of digital documents heritage.
